City of Shawnee

Human Resources

The Human Resources Department strives to provide the highest quality of service to City departments, City employees, and the citizens of Shawnee. The HR Department supports eight City departments and more than 300 City employees.

We are committed to not only attracting and hiring new employees, but are also committed to motivating and retaining current employees. We have a number of positions that include a career development path, which recognizes and rewards employees in these positions for their tenure, training, and job related achievements. The program is designed to maximize employee potential and promote growth and development within the department.

The HR Department plays a role in the recruitment, testing, hiring, onboarding, and promotional processes of City employees. We are also responsible for implementing employee policies, benefits administration, safety and worker's compensation, employee relations, and the employee wellness program.
