July is National Parks & Recreation Month and we are so excited to celebrate it with some fun, free events!

Game on Shawnee!

Hey Shawnee! In honor of National Parks & Recreation Month, we want to show off our awesome parks! The best way we know how is a city-wide scavenger hunt! Every Monday and Thursday during the month of July we will hide a golden egg in one of our Shawnee parks and post clues throughout the day so you can go find it! Each prize will have three clues to help get you to the secret location where it’s hidden. Come out to our Shawnee parks and get sleuthing, Shawnee!

Touch-A-Truck is Wednesday, July 17 at Herman Laird Park from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with tons of fun for your little kiddos! Bring them out to explore fire trucks, tractors, bobcats and more! And then pop over to Shawnee Town 1929 for Time Travelers from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Games at Garrett Park

Lawn games, board games, games of all kinds! Bring the whole family to Garrett Park on Saturday, July 20 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to connect with nature and get your game on! Grab your clues from city staff to participate in a scavenger hunt for fabulous and fun prizes!

Jammin' on the Green

Vine Street Rumble Jazz Orchestra will be back to once again jam at Shawnee Town on Wednesday, July 24 at 7:00 p.m.  Under the direction of Kent Rausch, this 14 piece band will perform the same outrageously exciting music that made Kansas City THE place to be in the 20’s through 40’s.  You don’t want to miss this!  Light refreshments provided.

We can’t wait for you to help us celebrate National Parks & Recreation Month!
